The School of International Education launches promotional campaigns for international joint programs

The School of International Education actively explores channels of international exchange, enlarges and diversifies enrollment of international students and overcomes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on international programs.Making full use of the academic competitiveness and abundant international cooperation resources, the BUCT is actively expanding the "2+2" double-degree international program.Since March 2022, Li Qifang, Chinese Language Center and his colleagues Zhao Jianya, Director of the International Students Office, Zhang Shuai, Deputy Director, and An Jeong Hoo, South Korea Project Manager, have talked with Kazan State University of Research and Technology, Tomsk State University, Russia, Deoksung Women's University and Kwangwoon University, South Korea through online meetings to promote the international joint undergraduate double-degree program for international students studying in China, focusing on the "double first-class" key disciplines, such as chemical engineering, materials, and chemistry of the BUCT.

The online meeting with Kazan State University of Research and Technology held on March 11 was attended by Anna Sukhristina, the Program Director of the International Exchange Office. On the basis of sharing the experience and achievements of international exchanges and cooperation, the two parties focused on their competitive disciplines, and agreed to develop the undergraduate double-degree program in Polymer Science and Engineering for international students.

On March 24, an online meeting was held with Tomsk State University. Artyom Rykun, the head of international affairs at Tomsk University, Kurzina, the Director of the Chemical Catalysis Laboratory Alliance, and Tikhonova, the coordinator for China Affairs and Cooperation, attended the meeting.Feng Jianghong from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office presented an overview of the BUCT and shared the experience and achievements of international exchanges and cooperation. Li Qifang introduced the development of the undergraduate double-degree program for international students and shared the results that have been achieved.Feng Yongjun introduced the strong disciplines and the history of the College of Chemistry.Artyom Rykun introduced the directors, main disciplines and international cooperation and exchanges of Tomsk State University, and Kurzina introduced the disciplines, majors and laboratories of the School of Chemistry.Then the two sides shared ideas and discussed the 2+2 joint program in chemistry, and reached an intention for further cooperation.

On April 1, an online meeting was held with Deoksung Women's University, South Korea. Lee wonjeong, the Director, Woo jungmin, the Deputy Director of the International Office, and Kim Minji, the Program Coordinator, attended the meeting.The two parties first reviewed the friendly and cooperative relations between the two universities over the years. Li Qifang introduced the developmentof the undergraduate double-degree program of the BUCT for international students, as well as the talent training and academic development in chemical engineering, materials and other disciplines.The two parties focused on the cooperation model of student exchange programs, credit programs, and undergraduate double-degree programs, and reached an intention to expand two-way exchanges.

On April 8, an online meeting was held with Kwangwoon University. Jae hyun Han, the Director of the International Department, Byongyob Ko, the Director, Muncheol Shin, the Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office, and Sunae Han, the International Program Coordinator, attended the meeting.Li Qifang gave an overall introduction of the BUCT and the School of International Education, and focused on sharing the development model of the undergraduate double-degree program. He expressed the hope that the two universities will further deepen the cooperation on the basis of successes in the past.Sunae Han introduced the Kwangwoon University.Afterwards, the two sides had in-depth discussion on the cooperation in the exchange student program and the undergraduate double-degree program.

Through a series of international exchanges, the foreign colleges and universities were impressed by our academic strength and high-quality talent development.The School of International Education will deeply explore with friendly colleges and universities the opportunities of cooperation in double-degree programs, exchange student programs and credit programs, further refine the content and mode of cooperation, and achieve meaningful progress as soon as possible.
