Author: Release date:2023-01-13

In order to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on the training of foreign students studying in China, tell Chinese stories well, carry forward Chinese traditional culture and display a true, three-dimensional and all-round China, the School of International Education, in collaboration with the Changping District Friendship Association, organized a cultural visit to the Ming Tombs for foreign students on January 10, 2023. More than 50 foreign students and their teachers participated in the activity.

At the beginning, the foreign students were guided around by the docent to view the exhibition named “World Cultural Heritage, the glory of Ming Dynasty” and to visit the cultural relics unearthed in Dingling Tomb. In this way, the students learned a lot about the history and culture of the Ming Dynasty. Completed after more than 230 years of construction, the Ming Tombs, in a sense, is a condensed history of the Ming Dynasty. Their brilliance reflects the ideas of traditional Chinese architecture and decoration, displaying the profound traditional Chinese culture. Next, the students went to the Science and Technology Interactive Exhibition Hall to experience the metaverse digital presentation, had a going-through-time-and-space talk with the Imperial Guards, and from there came the bursts of merry laughter.

After watching the unearthed cultural relics in the Tourist Center, the students were guided to Dingling Tomb for a sightseeing. Attracted by the magnificent ancient complex with red bricks and yellow tiles, the students became excited and took photos. And then, the teachers lead the foreign students to the Dingling Underground Palace to experience the traditional Chinese culture in person. As a world cultural heritage and a national priority cultural relic protection site, the Ming Tombs are the golden culture card of Beijing.

Mati, a doctoral student from Pakistan, said that she was very grateful to the School for providing such an opportunity for the foreign students to experience the traditional Chinese culture on the spot.

The School of International Education will continue to shoulder the responsibility of telling Chinese stories well and carrying forward Chinese culture, and will make its contributions to deepening the civilization exchange and mutual learning, promoting the traditional Chinese culture to go global, helping our foreign students to know China better and to make friendship with China, enhancing the people-to-people exchange, and building a human community with a shared future!
