Sing a triumphant farewell to the old year and welcome the New Year with great ambition. With the beginning of another year, everything is renewed. At this great moment of saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new year, on behalf of the SIE, we would like to extend our warmest New Year greetings and sincere wishes to all the faculties, student, alumni at home and abroad, and friends from all walks of life who care and support the development of the SIE!
In 2023, the SIE will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, study and publicize the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, face the demands for the cultivation of socialist builders and successors in terms of morality, intelligence, physical fitness and aesthetics, the needs for talents in the construction of an innovative country and the emerging strategic industries, the needs for the construction of the New Engineering Discipline and the Double First Class, and the needs for the development of internationalized talents in both international and domestic circles. The SIE has deeply implemented the fundamental task of cultivating students with moral character, positively promoted international exchanges in education and steadily improved the quality of internationalized talent cultivation, and has achieved new results in high-quality development and handed over a satisfactory answer to the BUCT with unity of purpose and rising to the challenge.
This year, we adhere to moral education,the holistic education and innovation leadership education. We cultivate innovation talents with patriotism, international horizon, solid knowledge and global competence; we spread the combination of induction and education to the whole university, build an international high-level teaching team, make full use of international faculties resources to carry out a series of high-level science and technology frontier lectures; we adhere to active expansion and focus on quality. Two undergraduate cooperation in education programs (the CCE programs) were successfully renewed, and 19 students registered for the master's cooperation in education program between our school and the University of Georgia in the United States, marking a breakthrough in master's cooperation in education and the introduction of international educational resources; we adhere to multi-channel admission, diversified investment and multi-level training (for international students in China), build and improve the Belt and Road cooperation platform, base and global cooperation network, and serve the global development strategy.
This year, our undergraduate enrollment scores have reached a new level, and the quality of cooperation in education has steadily advanced, helping students develop competence in terms of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. We organized students to participate in more than 30 competitions at the university level and above, students won 386 awards at the university level and above, including 174 awards at the provincial and ministerial level and 101 at the national level and above. Students from the SIE set up 35 innovation and entrepreneurship training project, 25 of them are successfully concluded. Undergraduate students from the CCE programs have published 10 papers in domestic and foreign journals and conferences, and applied for 2 domestic patents. Among the graduates of 2023 cohort, 74 students were admitted to graduate programs abroad and in Hong Kong, and the overseas study rate of undergraduate graduates was 48.1%. As of August 31, 2023, the employment rate of undergraduate graduates of the SIE in 2023 cohort has reached 98.7%, and the advanced study rate has reached 72.1%, ranking among the best in the BUCT.
In this year, we have vigorously introduced high-quality overseas education and teaching resources in three undergraduate CCE programs and one master CCE program, and completed 47 courses taught of international faculties with high quality. SIE has won one university-level teaching achievement award, two university-level teaching reform projects, and organized the completion of 22 Chinese-foreign cooperation in education reform projects in 2022 and the special teaching reform work in 2023.
This year, we continued to expand the circle of friends, signed 10 university-level international cooperation agreements, six core partners for the development of the Belt and Road, and signed one cooperation agreement with the world's top 100 universities; we held the Belt and Road Industry-University-Research Cooperation Forum and the inaugural meeting of the China-Indonesia Industry-University-Research Cooperation Alliance Council (China), The International Science and Technology Innovation Camp and the 9th International Cultural Festival. We organized international students to participate traditional Chinese craft-paper-cutting, traditional Chinese health care sports- Tai Chi, Mid-Autumn Festival culture lecture, Dragon Boat Festival culture lecture and traditional Zongzi making to help them experience Chinese culture in an all-round way. The SIE continue to carry out three 2+2 English undergraduate double degree joint training projects; the SIE signed base agreements for international students' practice (employment and cultural experience) with 6 institutions and enterprises.
This year we have achieved good results, and we will make even greater progress next year. Standing on a new historical starting point, we will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, and strive to write a new chapter for the high-quality development of the SIE. Let us persevere in our work, achieve the highest level of excellence, and continue to perform and practice to achieve great results, respond to the call of the new era with a more resounding vow, hold the baton of the new era with a more majestic force, and jointly write a more beautiful chapter.
