During National Day, a group of international students from Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) , including those from Italy, South Korea, Russia, Thailand, and other countries, were invited to participated in the 2024 Grand Canal Cultural Fashion Show, which was held along the scenic Grand Canal in Tongzhou District, Beijing. The event aimed to celebrate the rich history of the Grand Canal through a fusion of culture and fashion, fostering international cultural exchange and collaboration.
At the event, BUCT’s international students witnessed a unique showcase of fashion designs that combined traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern trends. They were particularly captivated by the runway show, which featured garments inspired by the heritage of the Grand Canal, where designers skillfully blended historical symbols with contemporary creativity.
The students also had the opportunity to engage with designers and other attendees, gaining new perspectives on China’s cultural and fashion industries. GEOVANE GONCALVES from Guinea-Bissau remarked, "This event allowed me to appreciate the beauty of Chinese culture and its modern creative expression." Mikhailova Ekaterina from Russia shared, "The diverse cultural elements displayed here give me great anticipation for the future of Chinese fashion."Ms. AN JEONG HOO, an instructor from South Korea, mentioned, "I hope that all international students will continue to maintain their curiosity about culture and bravely explore different art forms. Take the insights gained from this experience back into their studies and daily lives, and find their own inspiration and creativity."
