BUCT International Students Participate in the China-Europe Talent Forum 2024

 On October 15th, the China-Europe Talent Forum 2024 was held in Beijing. The forum, themed "Sharing together, Growing together, Winning together—Bridging Continents: Fostering Future-fit Talent Development" brought together government officials, representatives of international organizations, Nobel laureates, scholars, and business leaders. Yin Li, Member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, attended the Forum and delivered an opening speech. Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Former Prime Minister of France addressed the event via video, and Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, presided over the opening ceremony. Keynote speeches were also delivered by oversea and domestic guests, including Deng Li, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jürg Burri, Swiss Ambassador to China, Du Zhanyuan, Head of China International Communication Group, Gong Qihuang, President of Peking University and Jean-Christophe Deslarzes, Chair of the Adecco Group.

 The forum included keynote speech, project activities, publication of results, and round-table discussion. It also hosted sub-forums around six themes: Youth, Education, Science & Technology Talent, Culture, Economy and Trade, and International Sports. These sessions explored the critical role of talent in the development of China-Europe relations, further promoting practical cooperation between both regions in the field of talent.

 Yu Yue, Vice Dean of the School of International Education at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), led a delegation of international students and faculty to participate in the main forum.

 Damir Khasanov from Russia and Abay Sagin from Kazakhstan were interviewed during the event. They shared their perspectives on studying in China and the country's rapidly growing innovation environment.

 Damir praised China’s innovation efforts, noting: “China’s innovation environment is very dynamic. The government’s strong support for research and development has led to significant advancements in many industries.”

Abay Sagin also shared his views on China’s progress in innovation, stating: “China has made remarkable progress in technology, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. The government's commitment to promoting innovation has created a very supportive environment for researchers.” Reflecting on his personal experience, Abay added: “My research in China has greatly benefited from this environment. I’ve had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies shaping the future. Beijing and Shanghai, as the most developed cities, stand out in terms of innovation, providing great platforms for research.”

 BUCT international student representatives expressed that the event offered diverse guidance and inspiration for their personal development and future career aspirations. They look forward to becoming bridges for cultural exchange after graduation and actively contributing to talent exchange and cooperation between their home countries and China, as well as fostering global mutual understanding. This event highlighted the international perspective and exceptional qualities of BUCT international students.
