At this beautiful moment of bidding farewell to the old year and welcoming the new, on behalf of the SIE, we would like to extend the warmest greetings and most sincere blessings of the New Year to all the faculties, student, alumni at home and abroad and friends from all sectors of society who care about and support the development and construction of the SIE!
This year, the SIE has completed three important Quality Assessment and accreditation tasks. Strictly in accordance with the requirements of the first category of evaluation in the undergraduate education teaching audit and evaluation, the SIE has earnestly implemented all the work arranged by the school, established the SIE evaluation and construction working group, comprehensively sorted out the undergraduate teaching work and talent cultivation situation, and successfully passed the audit and evaluation work. The SIE organized and participated in the five-yearly evaluation of the three undergraduate programs jointly run by the Ministry of Education. It successfully passed the four-month evaluation including self-evaluation, online publicity and comprehensive evaluation. At the same time, the SIE organized and participated in the higher education quality accreditation (re-accreditation) work for international students in China by the China Education Association for International Exchange. These tasks will further enhance the social influence of our school's Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools and education for international students in China and provide important foundation and condition guarantee for our school to expand higher-level and higher-quality cooperation projects.
This year, the SIE has adhered to the principles of fostering virtue through education, promoting all-round development in five aspects, and leading with innovation. It has continuously carried out three undergraduate cooperation in running schools programs and one master's cooperation in running schools program, cultivating international innovative talents with national feelings, international perspective, solid professional knowledge and global competence. It has adhered to the combination of introduction and cultivation and radiated to the whole school, building an international high-level teaching staff. It has adhered to multi-channel enrollment, diversified investment and multi-level cultivation for international students in China, building and improving the "Belt and Road" cooperation platform, base and global cooperation network and serving the globalization development strategy.
This year, the admission scores of the SIE undergraduate students have reached a new level, the quality of CCE programs has advanced steadily, and it has helped students develop in an all-round way in morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor. Students have won 305 awards at or above the university level in discipline competitions or entrepreneurship competitions, including 115 provincial and ministerial level and above awards and 47 national and international level awards. Among them are the gold medal of the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) and the gold medal of Milan Design Week. This year, the undergraduates of SIE have published 11 papers in domestic and foreign journals and conferences, 7 conference papers, 2 domestic patents authorized, 7 domestic patent applications and 2 software copyright registrations. As of August 31, 2024, the employment rate of the 2024 undergraduate graduates of our college has reached 96.7%, and the further study rate has reached 88.1%. 101 students have been admitted to internationally renowned universities such as Johns Hopkins University and Cornell University for postgraduate study.
This year, the SIE has vigorously introduced high-quality overseas educational and teaching resources in the three undergraduate CCE programs and one master CCE program and completed the teaching of 44 courses by International teachers with high quality. It has vigorously promoted the educational and teaching reform work of CCE programs and completed 24 special educational reform projects of CCE programs in 2024. It has obtained one general project of the Beijing Higher Education Association.
This year, the SIE has actively applied for and obtained 2 scholarship projects of the Chinese government and 1 scholarship project of the Beijing Municipal Government in 2024. It has developed 3 projects such as "enterprise scholarships for international students in China". In 2024, the enrollment scale of new students with academic qualifications has reached more than 100 and the number of non-academic students has reached 105, reaching a new historical level. It has successfully applied to become a school of the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education. It has drafted and formulated and promoted the introduction of 3 systems such as the "Administrative Measures for the Enrollment and Training of International Students of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (Trial)" , improving the enrollment, training and management of international students in China.
This year, we have continued to expand our "circle of friends", signed 11 school-level international cooperation agreements, developed 5 core partners of the "Belt and Road", and signed 10 college-level cooperation agreements. We have successfully held the 10th International Cultural Festival, International Career Festival, Lecture on Traditional Chinese Culture, "Experiencing China" Summer Practice and other activities, organized the "Chinese Story" Micro-Preaching Group of BUCT, strengthened the exchange and integration of Chinese and International students, and cultivated international students in China to understand and love China. We have successfully held two sessions of the International Summer School, both of which were funded by the Chinese government scholarship, attracting 49 students from the United Kingdom, France, Spain and other countries to participate. The activity was recommended as a highlight project by the YES project. We have continuously carried out three 2+2 English-taught undergraduate double degree joint programs and added one 2+2 all-English undergraduate double degree joint program.
