On November 19, the 10thInternational Cultural Festival of Beijing University of Chemical Technology(BUCT) was successfully held at the Changping Campus, which has attractedover 3,000 domestic and international faculty and students. Vice President Wang Feng attended the event, along with invited guests including MANZOOR ALI, the Press Minister of Information section at the Embassy of Pakistan in China; PORNSIRI CHAROENSERBSAKUL, the Education Attache of the Royal Thai Embassy in China; and YUDIL CHATIM, the Education and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Indonesia in China. Representatives from various university departments and colleges were also among the participants.
With the theme " Embrace Culture, Innovate the World," the festival featured three thematic zones: the Global Artistic Interaction Zone, the International Cultural Exhibition Zone, and the Chinese and international Exchange and Co-creation Zone. The event provided a platform for Chinese and international students to showcase diverse cultures, fostering mutual understanding and highlighting the university's open and inclusive international campus culture.

In his speech, Wang Feng welcomed all the distinguished guestsand emphasized that BUCT has always placed great importance on international exchange and cooperation.He highlighted the university's active promotion of deep dialogue and integration among diverse cultures, and its ongoing efforts to build an exceptional "Open BUCT."
He expressed three hopes to both domestic and international youth. Firstly,he encouraged them to cherish their time at BUCT, always keeping the university's motto and spirit in mind. Secondly, he urged them to respect each other, embrace diversity, foster mutual understanding, deepen friendships, and strive to become bridges connecting different cultures. Thirdly, he called on them to diligently acquire scientific and cultural knowledge, actively engage in innovation and practical activities, and participate in events such as the International Cultural Festival, the International Career Development Festival, as well as various international exchange programs. He encouraged them to contribute their wisdom and strength as BUCT youth to promoting cultural exchange and understanding and advancing the construction of a shared future for humanity.
YUDIL CHATIM Delivered a Speech
YUDIL CHATIM, the Education and Cultural Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in China, highly praised Beijing University of Chemical Technology for its efforts and contributions to promoting cultural and technological exchanges between China and other countries. He expressed amazement at China’s rapid development, reminiscedabout his personal experiences of studying in China, conveying his profound appreciation for Chinese culture. He emphasized the significance of firsthand learning and exploration, highlighting the convenience of life in China and the warmth of its people, which has further deepened his affection for the country. Furthermore, he stressed that educational cooperation has played a pivotal role in fostering friendly collaborations between China and Indonesia in various fields.
Highlights of the 10th International Cultural Festival
In the Global Artistic Interaction Zone, Chinese and international students delivered a diverse array of captivating performances. The opening dance Chicago set the stage with its elegant movements and profound cultural charm. A collaborative performance of Chinese kung fu by Chinese and international students showcased the unique allure and depth of Chinese martial arts. Russian students performed the dance Katyusha, exuding passion and strength. The joint rendition of this year’s Forum on China-Africa Cooperation theme song Laughing and Singing Along the Way by Chinese and African students earned resounding applause from the audience. Notable highlights included the song and dance performance The Most Dynamic International Style and an international fashion show, with an Italian student’s performance of the Peking opera piece The Drunken Beauty bringing the atmosphere to its peak. The entire performance celebrated the unique cultural charms of various regions, presenting a feast for the senses.
In the International Cultural Exhibition Zone, the essence of global cultures was on full display, fostering cultural exchange and integration. Twenty-two country booths showcased their unique traditions through diverse formats, including dances, drum performances, cuisines, handicrafts, traditional music, and cultural passport stamping activities. This immersive experience allowed BUCT faculty and students to appreciate the beauty of global cultural diversity and unity without leaving campus.
In the Chinese and international Exchange and Co-creation Zone, the richness of Chinese culture was highlighted. Through activities such as Peking opera interaction, traditional Chinese printing, kite painting, opera mask co-creation, and Chinese knot making, Chinese and international students collaboratively explored traditional Chinese culture. These interactions deepened cultural confidence, fostered mutual appreciation, and celebrated the harmonious coexistence of diverse traditions.
